La Chureca is the name for the city dump in Managua. Nearly a thousand people live inside the dump and several thousand work in the dump from surrounding communities. It is a place of much suffering and destitution. Open Hearts Ministries has a school in La Chureca called "Colegio Esperanza" which offers free schooling to 350 children who, if they were not in school would have to go into the dump and work with their parents. For the past five years UBC has been involved in La Chureca, taking children to sleep away camp, building homes, medical clinics, helping open a girls rescue home and working at the school.
This past December, after about a year of prayer and seeking God, we helped start a church in La Chureca. We have begun meeting at the school which is in the middle of La Chureca
and central the community. The hope of the church is to reach La Chureca in a deeply spiritual way, not just the children but the adults as well. There is very much darkness in this place and we are praying that God uses this Church and the school to bring His Light, penetrate the darkness of evil, and draw His children towards Himself...that salvation might come!.
Please pray for this new church plant, Pastor Ramon Vaca and his family, and all the people who are committing to this church and to seing God move in the people of La Chureca.
.
Thank you for Praying...Chris & Krista Farrington "Open Hearts Nicaragua"
