It’s Carnaval time in all of Brazil which means parades, nudity, and widespread immoral behavior. To provide a healthier atmosphere for the youth of our churches during Carnaval we hold a Camp at the mission property. Preteens and teenagers, from the favela (shantytown) and from the neighborhoods surrounding the mission, participate in a variety of day long events, sleep-overs, bonfires, field and pool games, soccer, costume dress-up, and tons of fun!
Last year in the favela, when we showed a DVD after camp of the kids participating in the games, one mother cried and said that she had never seen her kids smile so much before. It’s a wonderful time of fun, fellowship and spiritual feeding for believers and a great introduction to spiritual matters to unbelievers. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will work in a MIGHTY way with these “at risk” teens!
